Sedona's GLBT community welcomes you to the most beautiful town in America: Sedona, Arizona. If you are currently visiting Sedona, or plan to visit in the near future, this Web site will provide you with "insider's" information on Sedona's GLBT community. If you are simply browsing, we encourage you to visit Sedona and discover one of the most gay-friendly vacation spots on the globe!
The first thing you need to know about Sedona: The best word to describe Sedona is "RELAXED." When you visit Sedona, a sense of peacefulness will embrace you. It's almost magical. Some believe it is magical. You'll notice your mind turning its focus toward serenity, self-acceptance and self discovery. Locals jokingly call Sedona "Slow-dona" because our pace is so relaxed. The contrast between city life and Sedona life can be startling. Meditation and self-discovery are favorite pastimes here. Hiking and listening to local bands come in a close second. Our sunsets are museum quality. Each day, as the Arizona sun nears the horizon in the west, the east faces of our red rock mountains glow with shifting hues of orange, purple and rose. And after the sun goes down, our skies are dark. Very dark. On cloudless nights, the stars are as sharp and bold as campfires. When in Sedona, feel free to talk to strangers. Feel free to recline on a rock and study the landscape for hours at a time. Feel free to relax. Above all, feel free to be yourself.
Second thing to keep in mind: Sedona is all about discovering your own creative energy. Whether you spend your vacation here hiking, biking, horseback riding, jeep touring, or simply browsing our galleries and gift shops, take your time. Move slowly and with intention. A vacation to Sedona will help you focus your thoughts. Don't overlook this opportunity.
Our third piece of advice: Don't expect dance clubs that party on 'til dawn. The sun comes up early in Arizona, and most local bars close at midnight. Additionally, although Sedona boasts some of the best restaurants in the Southwest, most close at 10PM. In other words, don't expect Chinese take-out at 3AM. Sedona is a small town with a large tourist population, but a small town, nonetheless. Sure, our private GLBT parties have been known to continue into the wee hours; however, early morning hikes are always more popular here than late night cruising. Our most popular attraction in Sedona will always be the red rocks.
